Independance Day Celebrations

Mayor Charley Farrior was pleased to announce that for the first time in many years, there would be an Independence Day celebration in Wallace. The Second Marine Division Band and combined choirs will be performing on July 5th at 6:00 p.m. The combined choirs will feature local Wallace singers. The event is being co-sponsored by the Wallace Revitalization Association, the Wallace Fire Department, and the Town of Wallace. The event will be held at the WANOCA Women’s Club Amphitheater, 216 N.E. Railroad St. In the event of rain, it will move to the First Baptist Church, 408 W. Main St.
On July 4th, there are also events planned at the Wallace Farmer’s Market. In addition to the regular market vendors, there will be additional food and craft vendors for this special event. You’ll find locally grown herbs, produce, USDA meats and poultry, eggs, baked goods, jams and jellies, crocheted items, hand made jewelry, painted mailboxes, handmade soaps and much more at the farmer’s market that Saturday.
The Southern Gospel Quartet, “Blessed” will be performing at 11:00 a.m., and Smiley the clown will be in attendance. There will be vendors selling homemade lemonade, cold soda and water will be for sale, and Smitty’s Hot Dogs will set up on the depot grounds that day for hot dog sales. The Farmer’s Market will be open from 8:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. on July 4th for this special family event.
Fran Jackson, the manager of the Farmer’s Market, said “We wanted to make this day at the market special, with events for young and old alike. There are vendors that will only be here for this special day, so be sure and bring the family and enjoy the day’s activities! There is something for everyone at the Wallace Depot!”
Please mark your calendar, put on your red, white and blue, pack up the lawn chairs and plan on attending both these special events!
