MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Admiral Outdoor Advertising

Admiral Outdoor Advertising began in 2006 after Pete Murphy saw a need forlocal businesses to be able to advertise along the I-40 Cor- ridor of Duplin County. Today his company has 11 billboards with 22 advertisingopportunities. Clients include Duplin Winery, The Shutter Production, andWallace 100 Committee, Inc.
Missie Wells, Chamber of Commerce Treasurer, is the company face we are most familiar with. Working for the Murphy Family has been a great opportunity for her to learn many different skills. The billboard business has been a wonderful learning experience for her. Community zoning laws, Department of Transportation regulations, and the annexation processes are just the beginning of what she has learned. Missie is involved in the sales of billboard spaces, and works with the clients on concept development and art design for their spaces.approxmately 22,000 people per day see the fruits of their labors as they commute to and from Wilmington. When asked what the benefits of billboard advertising are, Missie had a long list!
Billboard advertising:
. Reaches out to thousands of people on a daily basis
. Directs potential clients and customers to your place of business
· Billboard advertising grabs the attention of potential customers like no other form of advertising can
· One of the most cost- effective mediums of advertising
· Colorful, creative and eye-catching ads have more impact
. Messages are delivered continuously and frequently
Missie says that working for the Murphy Family has been a great opportunity for her. Her bubbly personality and enthusiasm make her a great fit for the position. “Helping customers is my favorite part of this business,” she said. “When the artwork is complete and the vinyl is printed and their very own advertisement is up for everyone to see, it is an exciting time for them,” she continued. “They know that thousands of people will be reading their sign and in turn their business is going to grow!”
Another plus about her job is that community involvement is very important to the Murphy Family. They have been members of the Chamber of Commerce and Committee 100 since 2006, and Missie is currently an involved chamber member. Her duties as treasurer can be time consuming, yet she is always ready to volunteer on any project.
